A BLESSED PEOPLE
Gist: For this summer we will have a series of messages from Luke on Salvation, Discipleship and Wealth. This will follow a resource composed by Beryl Jantzi, Everence Director of Stewardship Education.
Jesus said, “… one’s life does not consist in the abundance of possessions” (Luke 12:15b). Simeon met Joseph and Mary as they brought Jesus for the first time to the Temple. Simeon took Jesus in his arms and praised God and then blessed his parents. This blessing can cause us to rethink what it means to be blessed. To be blessed is not just about receiving recognition and favor. It also includes responsibility and sacrifice.
