Pilate knows inwardly in his heart that Jesus is not guilty so he tries to evade condemning him to death.  A choice is given:  Barabbas or Jesus?  Eventually the outer pressures on Pilate prevail and he judges against what he knows is right for the sake of expedience.  Pilate made his choice, the mob made their choice, those crucified with Jesus made their choices.  We have this choice today.  Are we following the spirit of revolt against God?  Or are we following the spirit of submission to God?
