CHOIR PRACTICE
For our 5th and last Sunday of this Advent-Christmas season we are called to join the angel choir of Luke 2 singing “glory to God in the highest!” However, the choir of Ps 148 includes not only us and the angels but all creation. This is a choir that one does not have to audition for. In fact, one does not have to be able to carry a tune, read music or have rhythm. We are simply called to join in with what the sun, moon, stars, all creatures, clouds, and trees have been doing all along. Creation has been singing God’s praises long before this Psalm was even thought of or written. Shall we join in?
In Luke 19:37-40 we have: When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen: "Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!" "Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!" Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, "Teacher, rebuke your disciples!" "I tell you," he replied, "if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out."
