In this 2^nd Sunday of Advent we continue in the theme of expectation.  We cannot yet light all the advent candles.  We can only light two.  We must wait.  As we wait we pray… Come Lord Jesus, come.  This prayer is similar to the cry of Malachi 2:17, “Where is the God of justice?”  In other words, where are you God?  Why don’t you come?  God’s response (Malachi 3:1-5) is quick and direct.  The God of justice will come.  But instead of bringing justice to us we are brought to justice.  God’s people are the ones to be judged not God’s enemies.  Jesus didn’t come to cuddle, comfort or console us but to cleanse us.  Ouch.  Can we still pray… Come Lord Jesus, come?
