We continue the sermon series, Matthew: Treasure from things new and things old.  Even though Jesus entered Jerusalem to the crowds shouting “Hosanna to the Son of David” they did not embrace the meaning of what they were saying.  Matthew 21:10-11 says, “When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, “Who is this?” The crowds answered, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.”  They did not see Jesus thru eyes of faith as His disciples did.  Rather they saw Jesus merely as a prophet.  So Jesus takes on that role and prophetically speaks for God thru the symbolic actions of cleansing the Temple and cursing the fig tree.  In both cases He points out the false religious practices around Him much like Jeremiah, Ezekiel and others did many years ago.  What do we practice today?  True faith or false religion?
