LISTEN FOR THE PROMPTS
For this 3rd Sunday of Advent we look to Isaiah who prompts us to praise.
“In that day you will say… “The LORD, The LORD, is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation.”
And… “Shout aloud and sing for joy, people of Zion, for great is the Holy One of Israel among you.””
Just like from the New Testament the Lord’s Prayer prompts us to prayer, here from the Old Testament we are prompted to praise. When actors in a play draw a blank while on stage the director can whisper to them the lines to be spoken. So when we lose our way it is a grace to have someone say to us: “And you will say…” Thankfully we have such a hidden director standing behind us (the Holy Spirit) gently coaxing us into the words and postures of praise.
