LIVING FOR THE HIGHER PURPOSE

Preacher:
Passage: Titus 2:1-10, Titus 3:1-2
Service Type:

This is the second sermon in our series: Titus – Good and Sound.  In this short book of Titus, Paul ties together sound faith and Godly living.  He gets quite specific in chapter one concerning appropriate behavior for church leaders (elders, overseers).  Here in chapter two appropriate behavior for the church body is addressed.  No one is left out.  All members of the typical household in that day are called to Godliness no matter what role they play.  Highlighted frequently… “be self-controlled,” “be submissive.”  And Paul also gives the “why” behind the “what”…  “so that no one will malign the word of God”  and   “so that in every way the teaching about God is attractive.”  Our ultimate mission is to further the faith.  What effect does our day to day behavior have on that mission?  Are we advancing the cause of Christ?  I pray so.
