We are concluding our sermon series, Hearing God through the Parables, with the parable of the talents.  As Jesus taught with parables His focus shifted over time to the theme of His return.  We have looked into 15 of approximately 40 parables in the New Testament.  They all shed light on Jesus’ Kingdom and reign.  The last three sermons of this series relate to living in the delay… living in readiness.  The parable of the persistent widow tells us in the delay persist in prayer… never stop praying.  The parable of the wise and foolish virgins tells us in the delay “keep a supply of oil”… the oil being the effort of preparing for His return.  Now the parable of the talents tells us in the delay do your part.  The key question to ask ourselves:  Am I playing my part as a faithful steward under the reign of God?  May it be so…
