With this Sunday we begin a mini series on the Wisdom books of Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and Job.  Like the teacher, James, in the New Testament these 3 Old testament books also call us to live according to God’s ways and wisdom.  Proverbs 1:3 describes this life as “doing what is right, just and fair.”  It doesn’t take long with a little honest introspection to realize how we fall short of this goal.  But that is precisely why God has given us these “teachers” to come alongside us to help.  We are not left alone to strive and struggle and ultimately fail.  God has come to us… in Jesus and in the scriptures.  Proverbs says it all begins with the fear of the Lord (1:7).,.  not fear of failure or fear of disappointing God but knowing God’s power and presence.
