PENTECOST – RUNNING ON AND CLEARING THE PATH

Preacher:
Passage: Hebrews 12:1-13
Service Type:

“Unsurpassed – Savior and Lord” is our current sermon series which looks into the book of Hebrews.  In chapter 11 we were called to be people of faith inspired by many who have gone on before.  Here in chapter 12 we are encouraged to make that faith active.  We are to run the race marked out for us… it is not a stroll thru the park.  Great effort is called for to live the Christian life.  Being saved by grace thru faith is not opposed to effort (it is opposed to earning).  Jesus is with us as we run this race for our eyes are to be fixed on Him.  We don’t run this race alone.  And part of running our race is to clear what we can from the path.  We have a responsibility to help others who are also running their races.  God will not straighten for us what we can straighten on our own.  This applies especially to fathers on the Father’s Day.  Every Dad is called to not put stumbling blocks in the path for their children rather… “make straight paths for your feet so that what is lame may not be disabled further but rather healed.”  Hebrews 12:13
