THE DAYS OF NOAH

Preacher:
Passage: Matthew 24:36-44
Service Type:

This Sunday begins our Sundays of Advent with the theme of Living in Expectation.  Just as our faith forebearers were expecting their Messiah, so today we also expect His coming.  Jesus correlates the days of Noah with His return.  It was Noah and his family who were left behind following the flood.  So we, in a sense, are the left behind ones today.  Left behind partnering with God to do His will.  The verses that follow our focus passage illustrate what that looks like.

Matthew 24:45-47 - "Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time? 46 It will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns. 47 I tell you the truth, he will put him in charge of all his possessions.

The good servant is commended because he made dinner and served it at the usual time?  Can it be possible that being faithful to our Lord in our everyday routines demonstrates holy watchfulness for His return?  I think so…
