We continue with the series, “Looking for the True King – 1, 2 Samuel.”  Even though it grieved God to do so, He led Samuel to anoint Saul as king of Israel.  While King Saul brought many good qualities as he assumed this important role one key quality was missing:  The capacity to obey God’s clear instructions even when they don’t make sense.  This is no less a challenge for us today as it was for King Saul.  1 Samuel 15:22b says, “To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better that the fat of rams.”
