We continue the sermon series, Matthew: Treasure from things new and things old.  Now that Jesus has been properly introduced (Matthew 1:1 – 4:16) we see His ministry to Israel begin (4:17 – 11:1).  And what is more Jesus expands His ministry by sending out His twelve disciples.  But in Matthew’s story there is no reference to the results or the return of these twelve.  In fact, Jesus explicitly tells them “you will not finish going through the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes (10:23).  Jesus clearly has in mind that His ministry will be ongoing, continuing until He returns carried out initially by these twelve and then by other disciples who will follow.  That is us.  Let’s do our part.
