YOUR HOME – THE KINGDOM BREAKING IN
Most conversion accounts in Acts are described in broad terms: “… and many people believed in the Lord.” (Acts 9:42) However, all of Acts 10 and much of chapter 11 focus just on one person, Cornelius. We learn that Cornelius’ home was sacred place, not a secret place. Can our homes also be places where God shows up? Finally, we also learn that we need to be learners. The bridge that Peter, a Jew, and Cornelius, a Roman soldier, crossed as they met was a long one indeed. The difficulties of being able to view Jews and Gentiles as equal in the Kingdom was enormous in that day. Today we have our own difficulties when it comes to relationships in our own neighborhoods. Peter was not perfect but was willing to learn... “I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism…” (Acts 10:34). Are we as willing to learn?
