Pastor Zachary Dey, the son of a Mennonite pastor, has always been deeply rooted in the Mennonite church. With prior experiences serving and being an active member in Mennonite congregations across Indiana, Ohio, and Virginia, Pastor Zach found his calling at the Williamsburg Mennonite Church. Though he is a “cradle Mennonite,” he has only remained a part of the Mennonite church because of its commitment to Christ-centered beliefs.
Pastor Zach firmly believes Christ should be at the core of our lives because He is our Lord (Revelation 19:16), our “peace” (Ephesians 2:14), the Church’s “cornerstone” (Ephesians 2:19-22), and “foundation” (1 Corinthians 3:11). It is these profound reasons that he has remained in the Mennonite church.
WMC is Pastor Zach’s first pastorate, where he was originally called to serve as the Associate Pastor in October 2021. His initial focus at that time was to help develop a new children’s ministry, which now flourishes under the name Family Fun Nights.
In July 2022, he transitioned into the role of Lead Pastor, assuming a more comprehensive leadership position within the congregation. Before embracing his pastoral calling, Pastor Zach taught religious studies courses at Gardner-Webb University.
Pastor Zach finds immense gratification and tremendous joy in teaching and preaching, and he wholeheartedly embraces the opportunity to enlighten and inspire others. Employing an expository preaching style, he delves deep into each verse and passage, drawing particular attention to the Bible’s relevance to the contemporary world. He strongly believes in the transformative power of the biblical message and hopes to convey its profound significance to his congregation.
Like many Anabaptists before him, Pastor Zach stresses the importance of modeling our lives after the example and teachings of Christ. First John 2:6 says, “Whoever claims to live in Him must live as Jesus did” (NIV). Pastor Zach consistently underscores this conviction in his sermons, encouraging his listeners to walk in the footsteps of Jesus.
